THRACE. Abdera. Circa 411/0-386/5 BC. Stater (Silver, 23 mm, 12.93 g, 7 h), Apollados, magistrate. Griffin springing left. Rev. [E]ΠI AΠOΛ-Λ-[A]ΔOΣ Apollo advancing slowly left, holding patera in right hand and long branch of laurel over shoulder with left. AMNG II, 88 and pl. III, 9 = May, Abdera, 350 (A253/P296) = Warren 451. Very rare, apparently the second and finest example of this variety known. Nicely toned and of beautiful style. A scrape and a minor flan fault on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
